Adina Babad, LMHC-D | Online therapy in New York

You’re insightful and self-aware. But that doesn’t mean you need to do it all on your own.

You can learn to turn that compassion you have for others towards yourself.

The pressures we feel as people, and especially as women—from ourselves, our families, society, you name it—can keep us stuck in a cycle of anxiety, unhappiness, and burnout. Somehow it simultaneously feels like we’re never doing enough and always doing too much. Sure, showing up for the people around us is important, but so many of us struggle to prioritize ourselves or even to show ourselves kindness, and let’s face it—that just isn’t sustainable. Let’s work together to start using your strengths to take care of yourself, so you can stop this cycle and start living the grounded, balanced life you deserve.

My Approach

All parts of you are welcome in our work together! Our sessions will involve a mix of gaining insights into patterns and challenges, understanding the role your thoughts play in your actions or relationships, practicing self-compassion, zeroing in on your values and priorities, and implementing helpful habits and tools. I value getting to understand you and your world, and I’ll help you practice seeing different perspectives while also honoring your own.

As a therapist, I provide a space for self-reflection in which we find the balance between taking accountability, acknowledging the experiences and systems that have led to our choices, and practicing self-compassion and acceptance. I also value each of our uniqueness and individual needs, and while I rely on my training and knowledge, my approach to therapy is fluid. I want you to feel empowered in our sessions, and I welcome honest feedback and open conversations so that we can both keep learning and growing. Warmth, directness, and humor all have their place in our sessions.

My Background

Growing up, I saw loved ones struggle with anxiety and people-pleasing tendencies. These were kind and compassionate people who appeared to have it all together on the surface but beneath were feeling deep burnout and pain. Over time, I also recognized I had elements of these same struggles within myself. Through both supporting those close to me and addressing my own struggles, I saw the incredible power of getting support. My path to becoming a therapist started with a desire to help people tap into their strengths and create the lives they truly want; it’s been my mission ever since to help others create a sense of balance, confidence, and meaning in their lives.

Throughout the last several years I’ve helped people in a range of ages, genders, sexualities, and cultural/racial backgrounds, with all sorts of life challenges and mental health struggles, create meaningful change. I’ve had the privilege of supporting my clients directly in 1:1 therapy, facilitating group therapy sessions, and supervising new therapists.

Now, I help women do exactly what so many people in my life struggled to do for so long—translate insight into action, shift unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, and say no when it’s needed. You can have the life you want and deserve. Let’s get started together.
